Taking the Bus: So Far So Good

Today was my inaugural voyage on the bus, and I have nothing but good news to report. The bus was clean and the ride was relaxing. When I drive to work, my trip is filled with tension as I simultaneously worry about being late, getting a ticket, and having an accident. But on the bus these worries are taken away from me if not completely eliminated; I read Herman Wouk’s War and Remembrance instead.

It helps that the state of Colorado puts an emphasis on public transportation, and the city of Boulder provides free bus passes to employees of companies whose offices are located in the downtown Pearl St. location. Furthermore, the express bus (meaning no stops) that runs from basically my apartment to my work makes this a pretty simple decision as well. There is also the copious economic benefit that comes from not paying for gas that a recent grad who needs to save for a ski pass cannot possible ignore either.

Whatever the reason, so far, so good with public transportation. Of course it hasn’t rained yet.
