Lost: In the hands of Fat Cats

Whenever I am getting the “there is nolilly.jpg
fucking way the writers of Lost will be ever be able to pull all the story lines together cohesively” feeling and am about to just give up on the show all together, something comes out of nowhere and renews my interest and faith in the show.

Today it was this interview of Damon Lindelof which was candid and insightful.

However, the interview did bring up a troubling aspect of Lost to light. Damon reveals, at least to me, that Lost is ultimately controlled by ABC and Touchstone, not by JJ Abrams or any of the sources of creativity, and as Damon puts it “as long as it’s a show that is popular and that people are watching, they’ll never let us end it, which is sad and depressing.

In other words, ABC will keep making them drag the story out as long as we tune into watch or download it form iTunes as I do. The answers that we so desperately crave could be years away and will ultimately be given due to the declining popularity of the show. In the long term, it looks like we true Lost fans will have to wait until some of the people who watch just because “Kate is smoking” lose interest and tune out before anything of substance truly happens. Which you can tell by the picture above, could take a while.

Thanks for pointing me to the interview Lost Blog.
